“How shall I make a return to the Lord for all the good God has done for me?”

  Psalm 16:12

   Did you remember your gift?

It is only natural when you are invited to a party – whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, homecoming or other celebration – to think about the gift you will bring.  Even when the invitation says, “No gifts, please,” most of us still show up with a token of our affection.  We bring gifts to show our gratitude for being invited and to show our love for the one being honored and celebrated.

So, when God himself invites you to the greatest celebration of all – the celebration of the Eucharist – do you bring a gift?  Do you take time to wrap it in an envelope?  Do you select what truly reflects your gratitude for being invited to be a part of God’s family?

The invitation to Mass does not say “No gifts, please.”  In fact, since God first called the Israelites to be His people He taught them, “No one shall appear before the Lord empty-handed, but each of you with as much as he can give, in proportion to the blessings which the Lord, your God has bestowed on you.” –Deuteronomy 16:16-17

To bring your gift to our Eucharistic celebration, please register for weekly envelopes by contacting Peggy Smith, Stewardship & Development Director, 407/422-2005.

 Electronic Giving

A growing number of parishioners use our electronic giving option – e-Tithe for their gift to be automatically drafted from their bank account.

Your gift may be one-time or recurring (weekly, monthly, etc.).  If you are a registered parishioner and elect to contribute electronically, you will continue to receive stewardship envelopes which you may place in the offertory collection.  Just write “e-Tithe” on your envelope to indicate that you utilize Electronic Funds for your commitment to “selfless stewardship.”  To sign up for – e-Tithe – fill out this form and return to Andrea Miller, Operations Manager, 407/422-2005.

How can I be a good steward of my treasure?

●acknowledge that all my material possessions are gifts from God

●understand that my offering is my “thank you” to such a generous God

●give in proportion to the gifts I have received

●strive to follow the Biblical tithe of 10 percent

5 percent  to the weekly Sunday parish offertory.

1 percent to the annual Diocese of Orlando Catholic Appeal

4 percent to other charities of your choice (including special collections, offerings to the poor, etc.)

While 10 percent is recommended, the actual amount anybody gives is left up to them.  Parishioners should tithe what they can afford to take care of the financial needs of St. James Cathedral.
