Bus Service PDF Print E-mail

The Bus Service Ministry was established at St. James to help senior citizens at retirement centers who don’t have access to automobiles, get to church.

St. James location in downtown Orlando makes it convenient to senior retirement homes like Westminster Towers, Lutheran Towers, the Cloisters also located in the downtown area. Many Catholics live in these apartments, but don’t drive, can’t walk and don’t have anyone willing to stop and pick them up to attend Church.

Our Bus Drivers bring parishioners to the 4 p.m. Mass on Saturday and the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday. They pull up in front of retirement centers, open the door and allow the men and women to board the bus. Occasionally, there is a need to assist someone on to the bus.

We can’t accommodate walkers or wheelchairs. The bus capacity is 25 people.

We DO NOT pick up at private residences.

Bus Drivers usually leave St. James 30 minutes before the start of Mass and are finished dropping the last person off about 30 minutes after Mass. The furthest pickup point is only two miles from St. James.

We need people with a friendly smile a CDL (Commercial Drivers License) and a clean driving record to pilot the bus.

Please call Mary at 407-422-2005 to apply as a driver or to be picked up to attend Mass.
