Research has shown that spirituality and religion are important ingredients in the healing process, especially among those in the senior population. At St. James, the ministry provides regular visitations and Communion to parishioners in hospitals, care centers, nursing homes, high-rise apartments and private homes. Volunteers must go through Diocesan training to become Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist. There are group meetings scheduled during the year to service and information sharing. For more information on the Minister of the Sick ministry, please contact Sr. Mary Katherine at 407-422-2005. |
